The Samuelu Family Blog: Week at Airlie Beach...

Evangelism week at Airlie Beach went very well. I didn't know exactly what to expect after our crazy drive there, but our accomodations to start with were good. We stayed at a christian primary school and thankfully were blessed with airconditioned student classrooms to sleep in and a room with 20 computers! We spent the week having lectures in the morning with a pastor named Alan who was really cool. He was a fellow YWAM'er and now a pastor of a church in Australia. He spoke to us about evangelism and kept things very real and down to earth. It was good to have a better idea on how to approach evangelising while we were there. What I liked most was that evangelism is about connecting with people and talking about our faith in a way that is simple and comes from the heart. In the end it is a choice of every individual to follow Christ.

After lectures in the morning we had lunch at the school and then headed into town to minister through volleyball, children's ministry by the lagoon, and setting up the big tent for the evenings. Dinner was back at the school and then 7:30 the evening festivities began. The "acoustic cafe" was very inviting and had the band, an art corner, coffee and tea bar, and comfy tables and bags to sit on the floor. Many backpackers travel through Airlie Beach from other countries. We had really good turn outs every night and got to talk to people about who we were, what YWAM was, and talk about our own beliefs. It was a great week filled with building relationships and really getting to tell others about our own personal relationship with Christ. It was challenging and sometimes scary, but God worked through us and we had a great time.
