What an adventure we had getting to Airlie Beach yesterday! It started off at 4:00 Monday morning leaving the base in Brisbane for Airlie, which is about a 12 hr drive north up the coast. We ended up leaving a little late as we had to make over 100 peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches for breakfast and lunch. Yummy :) Once we got traveling, about 5 miles down the road the trailor on the back of one of the buses broke! We had to re-organize all the equipment from the trailor into one of the other trailors and take some things back to base. We finally got leaving again for Airlie around 6:00am. It started to get quite warm after a couple hrs because there was no airconditioning in the bus I was one. All was good though and I tried to sleep a lot.

We had several gas and bathroom brakes along the way. After one of the gas fill ups we had traveled about another hour when we had to pull over on the side of the road. We found out that at our last stop we had forgot to pay for the gas and the police were going to look for us! We also found out that one of our drivers had forgot her license at her house and was driving without out it! We ended being able to pay for the gas over the phone, switch drivers, and we were on our way again.

Well, if nothing else could go wrong several hours down the road the tire on the other bus went flat. We ended up putting the spare on quickly and drove down to the nearest station and had a new tire replaced. Crikey!
We ended up getting to Airlie and the school we are staying at around 11:30pm. All together we had a 19 hr road trip! Good times :) This place is nice and they have many computers. Hooray. We are sleeping on the floor in classrooms with our little mats and sleeping bags. Despite our crazy trip here, it is beautiful here in Whitsunday and I am excited to start our week of envangelism called "Impact Summer". We have some lectures through out the week on evangelism and then afternoon interaction with the people in Airlie during the day with sports and children's ministry. For the evenings we have set up an acoustic cafe outside under a big tent for music and free coffee and tea. Check out the picture from out first night...
I pray you all had a great Christmas and have a Blessed New Year!
Lots of love,
Court
